Dental Implantology
Dental implantology is a discipline of stomatology that deals with insertion of implants. Dental implantology offers solutions for all forms of edentulism (toothlessness), from missing one tooth to partial toothlessness, to treatment of total edentulism.
Dental implants are artificial tooth root replacements that are implanted into the jawbone, and function as a substitute for natural tooth roots. The implant is made of titanium anchors in the form of screws that are inserted into the jawbone instead of missing tooth. It also has a crown, bridge or removable dentures, in other words implantological superstructure, that are fixed on tooth root. The implant is made of biocompatible material that grows with the natural bone because the body does not recognize it as a foreign body.
